Map of where I'll be

This map shows where I'll be spending the next couple of weeks. I'll fly into Halifax where I'll stay one night and meet some of my teammates. On Sunday, we'll all meet at the airport and drive to our home in Cherry Hill. That will be our base camp. The other highlighted areas are places we may visit or where we'll do some field work. If you click on the picture it will enlarge. Click again to magnify it even more. I'm getting so excited and I hope you'll all ask many questions!

I went in to school today to clean and get things ready for Mrs. Straukas. No one will recognize my desk! I'm posting a picture of the map outside of our door and some of the great animal cinquains that we wrote. I hope to see some of these animals on my trip.

Here are two challenge questions.

1.Look on a world map. If I flew directly west from the Halifax airport, which state would I reach first?

2. When I fly from Chicago, IL to Halifax Nova Scotia, what direction will I fly?

Tomorrow I'll post a picture of myself all decked out in my rain gear. Apparently it has been raining quite a bit in Nova Scotia. I actually wore some of it today!

Maybe I shouldn't answer your questions, that should be a student challenge. Let me know if I'm spoiling the challenge. If you fly west from Halifax, the first state you'd come to is Maine. Flying to Halifax from Chicago, you'd be flying northeast. It's mainly east. I just looked at a map and was surprised. I thought Halifax would be further north.
